Here are some shot of me having a blast!  B was on the shore taking pictures and there was the crew taking pictures, and I took some pictures from the air – a total collaboration of pictures!

I have spent this week mostly at home, in the house, cleaning.  Just like business people’s meetings that seem to be never ending or repetitive, my stay at home mom life is never ending and quite repetitive as well.  Sure there are unusual projects that crop up – like washing the master bedroom window scarves yesterday (that I only noticed said “dry clean only” when I was shoving them in the dryer… fortunately they were fine and are now hanging up, though a bit more fluffy – at least dust free!) or dusting the blinds, stuff that doesn’t need to be done weekly, but still needs to be done at least quarterly.  Same as the business world’s “special projects.”

Today it is a little after 11 and I have been to Walmart (yesterday went to Walmart as well and need to go again, as I noticed we are out of cat litter – will I ever NOT have a list of things to buy at Walmart?!) made up my bed, on my second load of laundry, rounded up the trash and took it out and need to unload/load the dishwasher.  Next task is dusting the living room blinds.  Alas, I am procrastinating by blogging.

Boys have cleaned up their rooms, and April is outside playing with J.  C is on the living room couch playing Nintendo DS and I’ve got 4 more loads of laundry to do – ironing can wait until tomorrow when April is not running around the house – afraid that the cord of the iron will get caught on her and will fall off and hurt her or us.  It was much simpler being a child, although when I was a child all I wanted to do was be a grownup.  I need to work on my contentment issues.

I’m off to clean house some more.  I really want to finish today’s to-do list before mowing our in-law’s grass this evening – while B edges and weedeats.  If I get finished with today’s list, I can reward myself with a little reading of Harry Potter book 6 tonight at bedtime, as I finished book 5 last night (with not a few tears shed over the ending – no spoilers from me if you haven’t read it and if you have read it, you understand what I’m referring to…).

So, to people in the business world – your life is more similar to mine that either of us would care to admit.  You get paid with money and I get paid with the occasional “thank you.”

• I updated the theme of the site. Dig the fort in the logo? It is the kid’s fort from the backyard and the inspiration for the name of the blog. There will be some more edits to colors, etc after working with D, but the basic layout is here to stay I expect.
• I imported the old posts from my personal rarely-updated blog which I have now retired. They are dated but I didn’t want to lose them. They start around C’s birth. For those of you subscribing to the site via RSS feeds, you may have a blast of chaos. Sorry ’bout that.
• I added a link to our new photo gallery. There is little content there at the moment, but I am working to import the thousands of family photos we have taken over the years into the gallery. Now the family members who keep asking for photos (understandably) can order prints at will
• Old photos from before D started blogging will not work until I finish populating the gallery.

I am still learning with this blog. I’m not very good at adding anything to the blog other than words. I’m hoping that B will write out instructions for me for uploading future pictures.

Another reason I need B’s assistance is that the new pictures are taken with B’s advanced camera system and the pictures are very good quality, thus taking up a lot of computer space. I told B that I could reduce the quality to let the pictures load quicker, and he said, “No, I want my pictures to look good on the blog.”

Okay, B, the ball is in your court to help me…

He had a shiny coat. Seriously, sequins and everything. It looked stupid on his armor, but I digress.

Mary, well he liked the tequilla to much. One day we found him in the middle of the street – not dead like you would would think, but he was passed out with a bottle of Cuervo empty beside him. Mary liked to share the bottle with the persian cat next door. We called the cat… cat.

Drunken armadillos named Mary are the life of the party, expecially with Persian cats by their side. And I tell you, that armadillo could mambo like no other armadillo could.

One day however, one sad sad day – Mary fell off the wagon – again. Not drunk like you would think, but sober as can be. He just slipped right off the wagon and hit his head on the empty Cuervo bottle lying next to it. That armadillo was never the same again. For the rest of his days he kept walking around town in a dimwitted daze. Every once in a while, when he passed the liquor store, he would gaze inside and a spark of his former self would appear. Mary would do a little jig, spin in a circle, and yell ‘Fuego!’ at the top of his little armadillo lungs…

I guess there is just something about Mary…
