May 17, 2010 – J’s Kindergarten Graduation
Posted August 2nd, 2010 by Mom | Comments (0)
My baby graduated kindergarten (had his “kindergarten program”). The kids sang some songs – remember “This Land is your land, this land is my land…?” I think I sang that at my kindergarten graduation! The kids got to play different musical instruments as well, as each class took turns with the instruments – yes, the kids sang at least 8 songs. We even had a paper program to go with the ceremony.
My only complaint is that the kids didn’t wear the traditional cap and gown. They didn’t even take cap and gown pictures this year like C did the year before. So, we took J to a photographer and had the traditional picture taken. The kindergarten picture this year was taken at a wooden child’s desk. Nice, but…
Mrs. L, who was J’s teacher, is wearing yellow. Don’t you love J’s tie? J does! He would wear ties every day if I would let him.
After the program we went back to J’s classroom for a time of fellowship and then checked J out of school for the day to celebrate.
The flowers are beautiful. Mrs. L gave them to me for being her Room Mom. (Yes, I did enjoy every minute of it!) Thanks Mrs. L for this special honor!
May 15, 2010 – C’s 8th birthday

We had a family birthday party for C on his birthday. We asked him if he wanted to go to a restaurant and C replied, “I want to stay home and have (list of people) come over here.” So that is exactly what we did.
The day before, was a unique day – it was the Author’s Tea for the first grade and a lot of kids checked out early from school. That was fun, but a problem. I had pre-ordered a cookie cake for C to celebrate with his class for dessert after lunch. We took it to back to school after running a couple of errands and passed it out to the few people remaining at his lunch table and brought the rest home. Wish C could have celebrated with more of his classmates, but that is how the cookie cake crumbled. Ba-da-bing. We did share it with J’s class too, as there was a lot of cookie to share.
For C’s at home cake, he designed it all by himself. It is a light saber cake. Kid still loves Star Wars, almost as much as Bakugan.
C and J both got a kick out of – and still enjoy – the pin ball machine that Grandma picked up at a garage sale. It is cool! We are the only house on the block with a real pin ball machine!! I’ve even caught the neighborhood girls playing it.
A week earlier, Nana and Pop took the boys to Toys R Us for C’s birthday run. C picked out several Bakugan. I can’t count all the Bakugans that he has. But C can tell you all their names, attributes and g-powers (points that they are worth in the game). Such a smart boy!
C also received a chess game and a new 20 inch big boy bike complete with hand brakes! He loves the bike gloves.
May 14, 2010 – Author’s Tea

First grade has an “Author’s Tea” each year. This year was C’s year. Wow- can’t believe he has already finished first grade and will be starting second grade in less than a week!
At the “Author’s Tea,” the children get to show off their year’s work, as authors. We the parents and grandparents get to view their binders and folder of artwork. The first graders also put on a little program of songs. The most favorite part of the Tea, for C, was the chocolate chip M&M cookies. He had several – he is munching on one in the picture with Nana and Grandma.
The program was well coordinated. Each class wore their class t-shirts. Each class is a different color shirt – shirts are purchased at the beginning of the school year for outdoor activities/field trips. C loves to wear his class shirt. He loves his school! The bookstore at school had leftover shirts of different colors and I purchased some of these for everyday wear.
This was a special day for C. He got to run errands with me after I checked him out early from school. (J got his special day of leaving school early after his kindergarten program.)
Thanks Daddy B, Nana and Grandma for coming to C’s special day!
Here is also a shot left over from summer blast – a picture of brotherly love.

J loves eggs. Scrambled that is. No matter the color. (I made green eggs at his request.) Then the next day I made orange eggs with red food coloring. J learned that yellow eggs mixed with red food coloring equals orange eggs. Ewwww in my opinion. Oh what I will do for this child…

Most people find pennies, nickles and dimes in their couches.
We, on the other hand, find 20′s.
J looked through B’s leather chair and found all sorts of things.
