Kid Speak 1.22.09

A few kid-isms…

1.  J:  I lettered it.  (After writing a thank you note to Aunt Co for a Christmas gift)

2. B, D and J were talking about B’s upcoming birthday and B asked J, “How old do you think I will be on my birthday?

J replied, “10″

B then asked J, “How old do you think Mommy is?”  (Always a dangerous question.)

J replied, “55″  (like I said… dangerous question!  For the record, Mommy is 34!)

3. C:  I really like the question mark man.

Daddy:  ??  “The man is called “The Riddler” on the Batman xBox game.”

C:  Well, I call him the question mark man and I really like him.

4.  J speaking:  “Mommy, when I grow up I’m going to live far, far away – like downtown.”  (a whole 45 minute commute from our house…)

5.  Mommy speaking, “C, what would you like for dinner?”

C:  Hmmm, a rice krispie treat and a fruit roll-up.

Mommy:  Nice try, but not gonna happen.

Daddy's Calendar

When I lived with my parents, I would often be found staying up late doing homework, as I liked to come home from school and have a snack and a nap.  (I’ve always been a “night” person.)

My dad was/is also a night person so we would sometimes have long talks.  I really miss that time.  We always have been kindred spirits.

Since I don’t live with my parents anymore, the past several years I have gotten ahold of my dad’s desk calendar that he has on his desk at work and I fill it in with important dates like birthdays, anniversaries and little notes.  Last year (2008) my dad found this note on his calendar and brought it to me with his new 2009 calendar.

My dad has told me, “I really like your notes and NEVER look ahead (as to spoil surprise notes).”

C and J Pictures

These pictures were taken in late December/early January.  Both pictures just make me smile.  B photoshopped the lightsaber for C.  At the time, C was holding one of his toy lightsabers.  C loves looking at this picture on B’s laptop.

Chats with J – 1.6.2008

J:  My purple crayon broke at Nana’s house (at school).  Not the blue-violent one, just the regular purple one.

(Gotta be careful around those “violent” crayons!)

As I was rocking J to sleep for rest time today:

J:  Mommy, can I tell you something?

Mommy: You can tell me anything.

J:  I’m thinking of something to tell you.

I couldn’t handle the pink.  It might be J’s favorite color, but I’m not fond of it.  I lean more towards the blues and greens.

Maybe this will do for now…

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
