It just seems weird sending my child to school in pajamas. However, today was PJ and Bear Day at school for C. C was thrilled to get to take “Giggles” to school. (C has started giving up his blue blanket - it helped that the school lunch workers picked up C’s little, remaining piece of his blue blanket that had a hole in it after C accidentally dropped it on the lunch room floor and the lunch worker threw it away 10.22.2008 - and has substituted his bear, Giggles instead. FYI Giggles got his name when C was about 4 months old. Grandma and Grandpa Burns gave the bear to C and every time we showed it to C, C giggled. Thus the name Giggles.)
I always specifically get the kids up in the morning with time to eat breakfast, brush their teeth, showered if needed, dressed, and their backpacks ready for school.
But being the mom that I am, this morning I still required C to get a shower and new Star Wars Jedi pajamas on this morning before sending him off to school on the bus. I just couldn’t let him roll out of bed and go to school in what he slept in. The pajamas even have a light on the chest that flashes when C moves. (Yes, I can see how this light will be a distraction in school, as if wearing pajamas and having a bear isn’t enough distraction already…)

This afternoon J played in the fort in our backyard. Early this evening J took a bath. While J was in the bathtub, I made a quick dash outside to “reclaim” indoor toys, shoes, plates, magic markers, etc. that made it outside. While I was outside, B called me. Here is part of our conversation:
Me: I’m in the fort picking up toys and screws (from the board that J took off of the fort a couple of weeks ago).
B: Considering the fact that J has been in the fort with a screwdriver, you probably shouldn’t be climbing in the fort to get stuff.
Me: Good point. (I am now safely inside and B has said that he would checkout the fort, especially since I found more screws than I should have (1 large screw and 4 small ones, plus a few other screws the other day, as the one known board that was removed should have only produced 4 screws…)
Is there any hope that J will someday PUT BACK TOGETHER that which he takes apart?!

J and I went out shopping today, between me being with C and his kindergarten class for a “Spider Day” craft and us going to school to have lunch with C. (J told me on Wednesday that “I miss C and wanna go have lunch with him” so I happily obliged him today, plus while I was helping C with his craft this morning, C asked me to come back to school and have lunch with him.)
While J and I were shopping, I told J, “Keep up with me.”
J replied, “I am keeping up. I’m just going slow.”
Me: Um… (smiling as I am thinking this through a 4 year old’s head.)

It is 1.37 in the morning and I can’t sleep. Goodness I hate this insomnia!
Anyway, since I’m awake and have already cleaned the kitchen and started the dishwasher, maybe the typing and the whirling sound of the dishwasher will get me drowsy. Here’s hoping…
C had fall break this Monday and Tuesday. I took the boys swimming on Monday at the gym. They had a fun time and took really good naps afterwards! Tuesday J and I took C to the dentist to get his teeth cleaned as I had taken J a couple weeks ago. C’s teeth are fine and the dentist is not yet worried about the thumb sucking, as C is showing signs of slowing down. (I think the kids on the bus have been teasing him, as C has mentioned several times that some of the kids call him a baby. I’m sure some of the name calling is because he is a kindergartner, but some of it has to be because of the thumb sucking.)
C sucks his thumb as he is getting sleepy and when he needs comfort. I’ve noticed that a few of his top teeth are loose (he has only lost 2 on the bottom and grown in his adult teeth). Once he loses a couple of top teeth, maybe he will “lose suction” and not be able to suck his thumb anymore… (?)
C was really excited to go back to school. He is thriving in kindergarten. I’m loving seeing his classwork that he brings home, and his writing is improving weekly.
C is maturing a lot, especially during the past couple of months. This afternoon I was sorting a couple freshly laundered baskets of C and J’s clothes and C started helping me - without being asked! C even told me “Thank you for washing my clothes and J’s. You do a good job.” Awwww - Thank YOU, C! Mommy needed to hear that.

C has a really nice bus driver. This morning C got to the bus stop just as the bus arrived. I (mistakenly) asked him if he has his blue blanket (that is a 1.5 inch square, as opposed to the original 3 foot square that it was - C keeps the blue blanket in his pocket to rub during the day and only takes it out at rest time or on the bus). C did not have his blue blanket. I told the bus driver that I would drive C to school, but she was very nice and told him to run get it very quickly and meet her at the next stop, which is about 3 houses down. C did run very quickly and I ran with him to the next stop. Very nice lady, his bus driver!

J still likes the color pink. J told me this afternoon that he didn’t like our house and I told him that when he grows up, he can have his own house. J informed me that he was going to have a pink bedroom and a black kitchen, so he could use his flashlight in it. (I’m just writing this to remind him one day when he does have a house and paints it a bland beige.)
I was starting to get concerned about J’s fascination with the color pink. It is his favorite color. However, a week ago at AWANA Cubbies, Rachel brought the snack and it was mini cupcakes iced with either pink or white icing. Her son, Andrew also picked a pink cupcake. One of the other little boys in our group, Cole, wanted pink too, but there were only 2 pink iced cupcakes. I guess it is nothing to worry about…

One of my dear friends, Theresa is moving to North Carolina. Her last day here will be Friday.
As a going away gift, our Game Night Group met to get a picture of the group. Jill is the only one missing.
B took these pictures (Thank you, my loving husband!) and I couldn’t decide which one I liked the most, so I printed them both for each of us.

On the front row is Lisa and Theresa. Kari, Margaret, Cheryl, Donna and I are on the back row.
Some of us have been together for over 4 years and will hate to see Theresa move. Our group started out playing Bunco once a month and now we meet on the second Thursday evening of the month and the hostess picks what game we play. We have played a variety of games including Trivial Pursuit, Bingo, Left-Right-Center, and of, course, Bunco, just to name a few. Some months we just get together for dinner and chit chat. It is always a wonderful time full of laughter and I wouldn’t intentionally miss a single time. The last time I missed was because I had pink eye and was VERY upset!!
Girls - you mean a lot to me and you are very special!!
