Research no more
Posted May 21st, 2008 by Mom |
Here lately, we have been receiving a lot of phone calls from research companies. We are on the “do not call” lists for solicitations, but research companies apparently have a “free pass” to call. This evening when a research company called, I asked him (the person on the other end of the line) to take us off of their list. He told me the 800 number to call to get us off of the list and then was nice enough to tell me that if we didn’t qualify for the research, then our number would be automatically withdrawn from the list.
I allowed him to ask the first question and it had to do with if any member of our family was employed or affiliated with different organizations/businesses in addition to research firms. I asked him what the correct answer would be to get us disqualified and he said that he could only put down on the form what we answered. Therefore I lied and said that a member of our household was affiliated with a research firm. He thanked me for my time and said that we would not be eligible for the research questionnaire and that there was no need to call the 800 number.
I just thought you might like to know how to avoid/stop some of the annoying telephone calls.
Not that in any way am I encouraging you to lie or be deceitful. Like I frequently tell B, “Let your conscious be your guide.”
My conscious is clear.
