One Safe Kid
Posted February 26th, 2008 by Dad |
I came home tonight to find that D had, by herself and with no other adults around, installed a new chandelier in our dining room. It involved electricity, 11 foot ceilings, and a 10 foot ladder. That is something I would not do without another adult around to call 911 should I do something stupid, like fall or fry. I am a safety and security nut.
I congratulated D on a good job, and then reminded her this was a two adult job. She told me I was crazy, and that the kids would dial 911 if they needed to.
To prove her point, she asked C what he would do if she fell off the ladder:
C: “Stand Back!”
I kid you not.

Mom (D) here… I did turn off the breaker and the light switch before installing the chandelier. I’m not that stupid! (Maybe just a little bit nuts - and overly eager to get projects done, though.)
