Grandparent’s Day at School
The 4 year old and 5t classes had Grandparent’s Day at school on February 11. Nana was able to come to the luncheon, but Grandma had something come up at the last minute.
The children were working on their manners and C met Nana in the foyer of the church and escorted Nana to her seat. Precious! C also had his picture taken with Nana sitting in a rocking chair (I’ll put pictures on the blog as soon as I figure out what part of the blog setup “broke.”). This will be a priceless momento and memory for years to come!
C was so excited that Nana and Grandma were coming to eat lunch with him. C had been preparing with the other children in music class for a program that they were going to do (no parents were to come to the luncheon). The kids and grandparents sang the last song together, “You are my Sunshine.”
It was interesting that the parents were to pack lunches for the grandparents to eat with the children (our turn since our parents took care of us for so long). The night before the luncheon, I took the boys to Subway to get a sandwich for Grandma and I also got a ham sandwich for J for his treat in his lunchbox the next day. On the way to Subway, C told me that, “Mrs. B and Mrs. W told me that I get to pick out what Nana and Grandma get in their lunches and they have to eat it!” I explained to him that I pack in his lunches the foods that he likes and we should get foods for Grandma and Nana that they like as well. C understood this and didn’t comment further. The next morning we got a Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuit for Nana and also packed Cheetos in her lunch, as they are her favorite “crunchy.”
C and his friends even created paper place mats for the Grandparents to use.
C told me that Nana shared her water (in a bottle) with him and that they got to go with each other to the dessert table and “I had 2 chocolate chip cookies.”
I loved seeing the pictures from the luncheon. My mom brought her camera and even let C take a few pictures.
I don’t know who had more fun, C or my mom! Happy Grandparents Day!
