Home Alone
This morning was very long for the boys. C met with his new pre-school teachers from 9-10 while J and I colored in coloring books in the hallway. Then it was off to get haircuts for the boys and new tennis shoes. C and J each went up a full size in their tennis shoes! We then went to Back Yard Burger for lunch and then back to pre-school for J to meet with his teachers from 12-1.
It took too long at our morning errands, so C and I went home while J was at school. After school it was rest time for the boys. I knew that they needed a good nap, or at least a good rest, since we had church tonight including AWANA for the boys.
At rest time I was rocking J to get him to go to sleep. C was resting in my bed since I had his bed sheets in the washing machine. As I was rocking J, the phone rang. I didn’t want to get up since it would get J interested in something other than resting. The phone rang 1 or 2 times and then quit. I assumed that C answered it. I was concerned when the phone rang again a moment later, stopped and then started again. On the third time that the phone started to ring, I put J down and answered the phone. It was my friend Ramona.
I asked Ramona if she had been calling and this is what she said happened:
Ramona: (calling me)
C: Hello?
Ramona: Is your mommy home?
C: No. (hangs up)
Ramona: (calling again)
bad connection
Ramona: (calling for a 3rd time)
Mommy: Hello? …
I guess either C:
1. didn’t want to bother getting me so I could talk to my friend, or
2. was in an imaginary state of being left home alone (like this ever happens! Not!!)
3. was telling the truth - I was not in the room with him (I was with J).
Either way, Ramona and I got a good laugh out of it.
