Try to top this, C

Just when I think my boys are starting to get along, something like this happens:

The boys are sound asleep and I am completing rounding up the house including washing dishes and doing a load of laundry. I just took out the trash - I had intended on doing this earlier and got distracted. When I started to take the trash out, I removed the interior plastic can to our stainless steel garbage can in the kitchen. This left the stainless steel part empty (it has a fold down lid to keep it neat).

When I came back inside, I went to the pantry to get a garbage bag to put in the plastic can and assemble the kitchen garbage can. Like I always do, I looked in the stainless steel part to see if anyone by mistake had put garbage in it that would have to be retrieved and put in the garbage bag. There was no garbage in it, but I did find C’s favorite blue blanket.

Thinking back on the evening, I do remember J closing the lid to the garbage can. It was then that I put in my mind to make absolutely sure that I looked in the garbage can after taking out the trash. I didn’t want gum or something else icky stuck to the bottom of the plastic part.

Now I understand why C went to bed with Nana’s little scrap of his blanket. (Nana has had to cut part of his blanket off as it has needed patches.) I kept asking C to find his blanket if he wanted to take it to bed, because I wasn’t going to look for it. Sweet, poor, C! He didn’t want to tell me that he couldn’t find it. I’m going to go and tuck it in bed with him.

Bad J! But I can’t help laughing at it! I’m just glad the blanket didn’t get put in the real trash! (Do you think J knew that it was just being “hidden” from C? I don’t always know what is going through that head of his.)
