It’s all about perspective

Daddy B told C over the weekend that he wanted to clean out the garage, but that it was too cold to do it at that moment. C loves to help in the garage - anything to get to play with Daddy’s tools! Daddy told C that by the end of the week it was to get warmer and by Thursday evening, they could go out into the garage and back Mommy’s car out and organize and clean the garage.

Today is Thursday. C remembered Daddy’s idea. (To give you a little perspective, the temperature is in the lower 30’s and it is snowing outside. The weather got colder over the week, not warmer.) When Daddy got home, C immediately bombarded him with the promise of cleaning out the garage. Daddy told him that it was cold outside and that tonight might not be the best evening to be outside.

C replied with - “oh, I’ll just get my jacket. It’s just a little cold outside.”

C and Daddy are in the garage organizing and cleaning. Well, Daddy is organizing and cleaning. C is busy “working” on the tool bench (that Daddy made for C and J last summer) with a socket and wrench set. Pure bliss for a 4 year old!

Aside - While the boys were outside, Daddy had the radio on. Daddy just came in and told me that while they were out there, the song “I want to be like you, because he wants to be like me” by Phillips, Craig & Dean came on. Daddy B had tears in his eyes. It’s needless to repeat, but I will, every stage of the kids’ lives is special!

Some days are like that

This morning C and J were having a hard time playing nicely together.  I got myself ready for work and then got them ready for pre-school.  On the way to school, J said a bad word (stupid) and C threw his milk cup at him (fortunately he missed; J quickly ducked).  With us in the car, I couldn’t really chastise C and J a lot except a verbal one sided conversation.  I told C that he needed to be nice and tell J he was sorry for throwing his milk cup, etc.  I also asked C why he was acting so mean to his brother today.  C replied, “I’m have a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day!”

I didn’t have much to say after that…
